Pink peace doves for Remembrance Day

This week, I did peace doves with the grade 2 and 3 classes. They were a really nice, easy activity, but still produced great results.

Students were given a piece of cardstock with a faint, dove outline. A note - cardstock works much better than normal paper for this one, because some kids can be very "paint heavy".

Students started off by red and white paint in a variety of pallets, to give them a gradient of light pink to dark red. They then used Q-tips to dot all over the dove, trying to leave as little white as possible.

The next day, they cut out the dove along the lines.
Next, it was glued to a piece of black cardstock,
and hung up in the gym! I think they look lovely, and they were so simple for the kids!
This took about an hour - keeping in mind that they need to be dried overnight before they can be cut.
