Earth day hands - grade 3
I used a technique that I found on pinterest, to make hearts using a traced hand. Here's my version of the instructions!
1) Fold a piece of paper in half. Trace your hand as shown on the FOLD of the paper.
2)Cut out around your hand. Do NOT cut the parts on the fold (circled in the photo.) This is what holds your hands together!
3) Open up - now you have your hand hearts!
This was a great lesson that only took a 1 hour block. Students trace their hands, then cut them out to make the heart. Once they were done, they used colored pencils to color in the hands using two different skin tones. They added nails and any details they wanted. Next, they traced the middle of the hand on a new sheet of paper, then cut it out leaving a cm or so border (this made it easy to glue on the back later.) They colored this heart using Earth colored markers. They taped it behind the hands, glued the hands onto the paper, and they were finished! Love the way these turned out!

This looks nice AND easy. Will try it this week. Thanks for the ideas!
