While I am really enjoying teaching at a junior high school so far, I have to say that keeping myself organized has been so incredibly difficult. I am used to casually using a planner and winging it 90% of the time, but I am definitely so overwhelmed by the schedule and my constantly changing classes.
To illustrate the learning curve, I took a picture of my planners pages from last year, and this year. These are both from the second week of school:
Check out how FULL they are this year, as compared to last year. I'm starting to feel like a "real" teacher now, as I can't just fly by the seat of my pants like I usually do. I literally have to write down who comes to me when, or I have no clue who what it is I'm supposed to be doing. For someone who is as organizationally challenged as me, it's a huge difference!
I know what you mean! I was the same way. And since teaching art can mean projects go over what you think they will, I would have to change my plans. So, now I write several of the more complicated ones on a long post a note including what I need for class. If I want to change it around, I just move the sticky note to a different spot! I can even take it off last year's planner! My principal loves it!
